Under 14s win Mid Sussex League Plate Cup Final

On Sunday 22nd April 2018, the under 14s won the Mid Sussex Youth League Plate Cup Final beating Ifield Galaxy Lightning 4-1 in the final. The final was played at county league ground Oakwood FC . To reach the final, the team had overcome Maidenbower Utd Tigers 9-1, Newhaven 6-3 in the quarter final and Lewes 6-2 in the semi-final. Broad Oak went 1-0 ahead on 15 minutes when Matt Halden scored direct from an in-swinging corner. Three minutes later the lead was increased when a Theo Rai cross was finished at the far post by Sam Richner.

In the second half, Nathan Ablitt put Broad Oak 3-0 with a neat finish. With minutes remaining, Ifield made it 3-1 scoring direct from a free kick but Broad Oak responded immediately with Matt Halden curling in his second from a free kick to make the final score 4-1. Captain Seb Stovell was presented with the trophy and Nathan Ablitt was given the man of the match award.
