Under 8s are the first taste at playing in friendly matches against other teams.
The under 8s are generally those boys and girls that are in year 3 at Primary school who are due to turn 8 by the end of the school year.
We start to build on the basic skills learnt in the rookies and begin to develop the players into getting familiar with the game. We still do lots of fun exercises training alongside the rookies.
Each child has an opportunity to win Player of the Week where they take a trophy home to show off to friends and family for that week.
Training sessions are 10-11.30am at Horam Rec, based in front of the clubhouse. Parents can purchase food and beverages from the clubhouse. All players are welcome so come along and join in!
Please contact Ben Cobb for further information, or if you are interested in getting more involved.
We started out with a team in the Crowborough League at the start of the season and all were prepared for matches, we started off and then bang the weather shot us down.
The team regrouped after Christmas and continued to train along with the Rookies in some very poor weather conditions but remained a team and also built on the team registering more players and then we had such a back log of matches they persevered and mainly playing away from home in fact only playing our final game of the season at home we completed our fixtures.
It has been a learning curve but they should all be proud of what they have achieved as I and Ben am.
I would like to thank Ben Morton-Cobb for coming forward to manage this team along with Glen Standing and to Phil Irwin for all his help.
I wish them all the best as they move on to under 8’s next season but they are a great team of kids and have been an absolute pleasure to train and know.
