Under 16s

Firstly, I would like to thank our sponsor Steve Horn from Southern Counties Lifts Services Ltd as well as the coaches Peter Smith, Stu Wood and Mike Saunders for their continued support and commitment to the team. Lastly a thank you to all of the parents for their support this season.

Due to the wet weather, there were no games from the 3rd December through to the 18th February with the exception of the cup game on the 4th Feb. Because of this, it put pressure on the team to complete the fixtures for the rest of the season and in some cases double headers, which were exhausting for the players. A few injuries and referee commitments also had an impact during the season, which quite often left us with either none or few subs.

The training has been fun and we have tried to incorporate some new drills which have been challenging for the players but we have seen some positive improvements on the pitch. We aim to continue improving and developing the players next year and focusing on their fitness and discipline.

The high light of the season for me is when we played Raw Skills on the 15th April with only 10 men and we won 3-2, the whole team put 110% effort in the game and everyone played exceptionally well. Also, the last double header against Tunbridge Wells Foresters, we needed to win to secure a runner up place in the league. Everyone played with great team spirit and passion, which resulted in a great win.

It’s a fantastic result coming second in the league considering the challenges we have faced this season but if we all focus on discipline, attitude and fitness, we have a really good chance of winning the tournaments this year and the league next year.

Have a great summer break boys and I look forward to seeing you all in the new season.
