U11 Dragons

A very ‘warm’ welcome from our fiery Dragons And Titans!

DRAGONSThis season we look to build on last seasons progression as we enter the under 9s in the league again. Our Dragons took part in the Club’s Annual World Cup Day at the end of the season, and then went on to play some wonderful football at several local tournaments throughout the summer. With a growing squad of 22 players and rising, the season brought with it alot of excitement and fun for our youngsters as they played their programme of non-competitive matches in the Under 8 Crowborough & District Junior Football League. Match Days are played every 2 weeks, 7-a-side, with high quality training sessions inbetween from 9.30am to 11pm Saturday mornings at Horam Stadium! Throughout the season we held regular social events – a Xmas Party, ten-pin bowling, friendly matches against Brighton & HA Development Centre plus a stadium visit to Eastbourne Borough FC where they met the manager and players both before and after their game.

Xmas Bowling PartyThe improvement in both the children’s technical & tactical play has been extremely rapid, and they are a pleasure for us to coach each week. We have been DBS checked & hold up to date First Aid/Safeguarding Children Certificates too. At training we follow a Session Plan that is centred on a particular theme for the week. We work on fun warm up drills, then ball familiarity, passing & possession, shooting and then we end with a game to see if they can reproduce what they have learnt in a match scenario. The kids love it – the coaches love it even more! A HUGE thanks to the Dragons ‘Barmy Army’ of very supportive parents who follow us all over the region, and to our 5 amazing & fantastically generous squad sponsors that have kindly backed us this season:

  • Goldsmith & Allcorn  –  Our Matchday Kit
  • Train Sharp Cycle Coaching  –  Our Subs & Coaches Jackets
  • InterSport of Lewes & Seaford  –  Our Training Kit
  • Barclays Bank  –  Our Training Tops
  • Paul Cottingham & Sons  –  Our Squad Polo Shirts

So is your son or daughter in Year 4 at school next year, or do you know of a budding footballer that might like the sound of what we do? On match days we try to give every child an equal amount of game time, so if you want to try us out and see if they enjoy it – don’t be shy –  give us a call!
