The U10s moved into 2017/18 with 2 teams. In the pre-Christmas fixtures, we were very competitive, winning the majority of our games. This led to us being ranked the 3rd best team, out of 40 teams in the age group.
Post Christmas, we moved into a harder section, but remained very competitive. The League games were all about developing the Players, and we certainly played some brilliant football.
Our tournament season started with a promising start at Pembury, where we reached the semi-final before losing cruelly to a last-minute penalty. This only spurred on the Team, as we went to Camber Sands the following week. Camber Sands is a hard tournament, held over 2 days on the best pitches around. On day 1, we won 5 games out of 5 to top the group.
On day 2, we won 4 out of 5, so secure top spot overall. We then Played an academy in the final. We managed to get an early 1-0 lead, and then held on to secure a fantastic victory. It was an immense effort from all the Players, over 2 days of fierce competition.
For 2018/19, we move to 9-a-side football and a whole new challenge which I am excited to be part of.
