The under 10’s have gone from strength to strength under manager Dave Simmonds and look forward to welcoming new players for another season in the Crowborough league.
The boys attacked the season with great intent and no little skill. We ran a squad of 19 for the year with the majority there come rain, rain and rain!
The results achieved across the season were distorted by the challenge of having only one proper goalkeeper spread across the 2 groups. This meant a series of volunteers stepping up to play in goal every weekend and trying their best, which they all did manfully. Yes, there were a few mistakes but there were many, many more brave saves and interceptions.
Overall we won more than we lost across the season with goals being spread amongst the group. There are always those more gifted than others but in every game we were happily surprised by moments of brilliance from those where it is unexpected and it is those moments coupled with the natural skills within the group that give us great confidence moving forward.
The Coaching team found picking the Most Improved Player the most difficult task we have had. We believe that every single boy is a better player now than they were a year ago and if they continue to listen, absorb the information and then practise the skills they will all make strides forward again next year.
